Out-of-Network Reimbursement

While I am not "in-network" with any insurance panels, your plan may still help cover the cost. Most PPO plans have Out-of-Network (OON) benefits.

  • The Superbill: Upon request, I can provide you with a "Superbill" (a specialized receipt). You can submit this to your insurance provider for potential partial reimbursement.

  • Pro Tip: Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "What is my out-of-network reimbursement rate for outpatient mental health (CPT code 90837)?"

Our services are also eligible expenses under most HSA and FSA plans. We recommend checking with your provider to ensure counseling is a covered expense under your specific plan, but we are happy to provide any Superbills or documentation you might need for reimbursement.

Why Private Pay?

Many clients choose to bypass insurance for several key benefits:

  • Enhanced Privacy: Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis to pay for sessions. This diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record. Private pay keeps your information strictly between us.

  • No Session Limits: Insurance often dictates how many sessions you "need." In this practice, we decide together based on your goals, not a corporate spreadsheet.

  • Specialized Care: You have the freedom to choose a specialist who is the best fit for your specific needs, rather than being limited to a pre-approved list.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

In accordance with the No Surprises Act, all self-pay clients are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) before beginning treatment. This document outlines the expected total cost of your care for the year based on our planned session frequency. You will receive this estimate in writing at least 1 business day before our first session.
